Artist Trading Cards Community Project to launch at The Quarryville Library

What is an Artist Trading Card? It’s simply a mini work of art to share. This craze started in Switzerland in 1997 and has become a cultural phenomena. There are simple rules: cards must be 2.5 X 3.5 in size and include artist info on the back of each card. The cards can be made with any art materials, including 3D. So far, we have artists at Bart, Providence and Quarryville Elementary schools working on ATCs to trade with fellow classmates, partnering schools, and Quarryville artist trading cardscommunity artists.

This community ever-changing art project will be on display at The Quarryville Library.

We welcome all artists and all ages to participate. Blank cards are available at the Quarryville Library or just bring your 2.5 X 3.5 piece of art and the library has the official trading card stamp for the back.

There will also be an area at the library for making Artist Trading Cards starting in mid November.

Stop by and see the exhibit grow and change as we celebrate our creative community. Make and trade!

Please contact Randi Kennedy, 717-806-1804 or rkennedy@quarryvillelibrary.org, for more information

Press Release by Mary Ferris, Solanco SD Art Department.

Holiday Pet Snaps coming to QVL

Professional photographer Frank G. Heron will be at the library on November 28th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to take pictures of your pets for the holidays.  The library will be closed for this event, so no worries about bringing a pet to the library.  We will have seating in the lobby of the library and pets and their owners will enter by themselves into the Carlson room for a great holiday photo. Photos are 8 X 10 in size and will be delivered to the owner with plenty of time to send out on holiday cards.  Photos are $15.00 and all proceeds go to the Friends of the Library. Call the library to schedule your 10 minute photo shoot!

Story Time Shake-Up

Teddy Bears Reading

We’re shaking up our story time schedule! Starting in January, our story times—Preschool Power for ages 3-5 and Wee Readers for families with young children—will take place on the second and fourth weeks of the month. Preschool Power will be the second and fourth Thursday, and Wee Readers will be the second and fourth Friday. The times of the programs will remain the same: 10 am for Preschool Power and 10:30 am for Wee Readers.

We’re hoping that this change will boost attendance at our Preschool Power story time; it is scheduled opposite our popular Parachute Programs, which will take place on the first and third Thursday of the month. The preschool story time has historically taken place on Wednesday mornings.

Please contact Randi Kennedy, Youth Services Coordinator, at 717-806-1804 or rkennedy@quarryvillelibrary.org with any questions and concerns.
