If you and your child are interested in gardening, check out our new Junior Master Gardener Club! We plan to learn about gardening and cultivating various types of plants, including vegetables and flowers.

6:30 pm: Family Movie Night
Join us for a FREE movie and popcorn in a family friendly atmosphere! All ages welcome – Movies Rated G or PG. This month, we’re watching a movie based on a popular brand of brick-based toys, in which a teen ninja tries to defeat his evil warlord father. Please contact the library for the specific title. Popcorn provided by the library!

Do you love anime? Check out this club! Watch anime, have some snacks, and socialize. Content will be PG/PG13. First and third Friday of the month.

A club for adults devoted to playing the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game! One meeting per month, first Saturday.

Thursday, February 8

10 am: Parachute Play
Thirty minutes of fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes will be just what your child needs to get the wiggles out! Bubbles, balls, and other props will ensure that the fun never stops!
(Ages 1 – 3 years with a caregiver)

10:45 am: Parachute Games
It’s parachute fun for the preschool crowd! Songs, rhymes, and games to keep your preschooler moving, laughing, and having fun! 30 minutes.
(Ages 3-6 years with a caregiver)

A volunteer initiative for teens! Do you want to make a difference at your library? Consider joining the Teen Leadership Group at the Quarryville Library! This is a group of teens who volunteer to plan, promote, and run teen programming in the library. Come to the meeting and find out what it’s all about!
(For ages 13 – 18.)

5: 30 – 7 pm: Teen Night at the Library
After-hours Teen Night at the Quarryville Library, featuring programs and events planned by the Teen Leadership Group. This month, we’re making book art!

9 am – 12 noon: Legopalooza!
Located at Wrightsdale Baptist Church, 310 Little Britain Rd, Peach Bottom, PA 17563
It’s a celebration of creativity, imagination, and, of course, Legos! Visit our Lego stations, each organized by a different local organization. Complete a challenge at each station and enter to win a prize! There will also be door prizes given out throughout the day. We have a bunch of new challenge stations this year, and there will be Duplo blocks available for our youngest block enthusiasts. Presented by the Quarryville Library, Wrightsdale Baptist Church, Solid Rock Youth Ministries, Elizabethtown Public Library, and Oxford Public Library.
(All ages welcome.)

It’s a county-wide celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Art, and Reading at your public library! We’ll have interactive stations out each day, plus a display about STEM education and activities for the whole family. Stop by the display during your visit and see what it’s all about!

2018 Go-Fore Golf advertising posterNinth Annual Go-Fore Golf Fundraiser: It’s Mini-Golf Time again at the Quarryville Library!

We here at the Quarryville Library are excited to announce our Ninth Annual “Go-Fore Golf at the Quarryville Library.” The event to be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, will consist of a sixteen-hole miniature golf course INSIDE the library that weaves in and around our bookshelves. The community will have a chance to play this unique round of miniature golf, enjoy lunch or dinner at our “17th Hole Café,” and participate in other family-friendly activities, all while helping to raise money for the library. There will also be a Friends of the Library Book Sale taking place from 10 am – 3 pm, to supply your winter reading needs.

For Regular Golf, from 10 am– 3 pm, admission is $5.00 for adults / $3.00 for children 12 and under.
For Glow Golf, from 5 pm – 8 pm, admission is $6.00 for adults / $4.00 for children 12 and under.

Players may be of all ages but groups are limited to five players. Prizes will be awarded for best pre-school, child, teen, adult, and senior score of the day. Tee times are strongly suggested, but not required, and can be made by calling the library at 717-786-1336 or by visiting our website at www.quarryvillelibrary.org.

Library CLOSED for Regular Business for Go-Fore Golf Fundraiser

On Go-Fore Golf Saturday, the library is closed for regular business.

  • There are no passport appointments taken.
  • No passport walk-ins available.
  • Computers are not available for use.

However, items due can be returned in the book drop. Thank you for your understanding.

Updated Yoga Schedule

Yoga SunsetThere has been a change to the previously advertised yoga schdule.

We had to cancel a week of yoga because of a scheduling conflict. There will be no yoga on Tuesday, February 27.

The new schedule is:

Tuesdays at 5 pm, Advanced Yoga at 5 pm.

Tuesdays at 6 pm, All-Abilities Yoga at 6 pm.

Weekly through May 1, 2018, except Feb. 20, Feb. 27, and April 10.

Open Needlepoint Show Accepting Pieces in Late February

The library art committee is hosting a show called Needlepoint Gems from March 3, 2018 – April 17, 2018.

This will be an open show, consisting of quality works of varying types of needlework from artists in our extended community. The pieces will hang in the Carlson Room at the library from March 3 through April 17. A community reception with refreshments will be given on Saturday, March 3, from 1 – 3 pm, and is open to all who wish to attend.

The artist is welcome to sell works through the show, but this is not required. All sales will be handled by the artist.

Submission Requirements: Works are expected to hang until the end of the show. Each work must be ready to hang safely without possibility of falling. Size limit is 48″ by 48″. Please contact us if you are unsure if your piece will fit in the display, as exceptions may be made. Please be aware that the room is used for children’s programs.

Please email or call the contact person listed below with a brief description, title, and size of each piece, as well as total number of pieces you would like to put in the show. Include your name, mailing address, telephone number, and title/s of work/s. Information must be submitted by February 20, 2018.

The pieces should be delivered to the library on Tuesday, February 27, 4 – 8 pm, or Wednesday, February 28, 10 am – Noon. Please note that not all submitted works may be accepted; acceptance is dependent upon quality and/or condition.

Calling All Artists for the Open Painting Show!

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
For the Quarryville Library 2018 Open Painting Show, sponsored by Quarryville Library Art Committee, in the C.X. Carlson Gallery, Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road.

Opening Reception: Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 1 to 3 pm

Awards announcement will take place at 2 pm and the exhibit will be available for viewing during regular library hours through Friday, February 16, 2018. The reception and exhibit are open to the public.

Amateur and professional painters age 16 and older are invited to enter one or two paintings, with an entry fee of $10 per painting.

Bring entries to the library Tuesday, January 9, 4 to 7 pm, or Wednesday, January 10, 10 to 11 am.

Size limit is 48 inches by 48 inches.

Cash prizes of $200 for first place and $100 for second place will be awarded.

Works do not need to be for sale and are expected to hang throughout the show.

Paintings should be framed or mounted and ready to hang with either wires or saw-tooth hangers.

Paintings must be appropriate for public library viewing in a room used for children’s programs.
