Join us for a FREE movie and popcorn in a family friendly atmosphere! All ages welcome – Movies Rated G or PG. This month, we’re watching a movie based on a popular kids’ television show, in which a pack of pony pals must go on an epic journey to defend their homeland from fearsome invaders. Please contact the library at 717-786-1336 for the specific title. Popcorn provided by the library!

Friday, March 2

1 – 3 pm: First Friday Film
Bring your favorite movie snack and join us for a showing on our big screen. This month, we’re watching a film about a young woman’s unusual childhood. Based on an award winning memoir by Jeannette Walls. To find out movie title, please call the library at 717-786-1336.

Thirty minutes of fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes will be just what your child needs to get the wiggles out! Bubbles, balls, and other props will ensure that the fun never stops!

10:45 – 11:15 am: Parachute Games
It’s parachute fun for the preschool crowd! Songs, rhymes, and games to keep your preschooler moving, laughing, and having fun! 30 minutes.
(Ages 3-6 years with a caregiver)

A volunteer initiative for teens! Do you want to make a difference at your library? Consider joining the Teen Leadership Group at the Quarryville Library! This is a group of teens who volunteer to plan, promote, and run teen programming in the library. Come to the meeting and find out what it’s all about!
(For ages 13 – 18.)

5: 30 – 7 pm: Teen Night at the Library
After-hours Teen Night at the Quarryville Library, featuring programs and events planned by the Teen Leadership Group. This month, we’re having an Ugly Fashion Show, with prizes! So come out with your ugliest outfit and see how it compares.

Topics: Intro – Map – Holiday – Cultural, Sports, Animals, Food, Colors/numbers, Clothing, Emotions. Additional dates are March 29; April 12 & 19; May 10 & 17. Registration required. 123… Play with Me! is a Parent/Child Workshop for parents and children ages birth to three. Each week offers opportunities for children to play with developmentally appropriate toys in a play group setting and for parents to meet and question community experts in the areas of child development, speech and language, nutrition, play, movement, and music.
(Ages birth to three, with a caregiver. Older siblings welcome!)

5 – 6 pm: Plant the Seed of Learning – The Brain and Literacy
Families will learn about the stages of brain development and how books and toys can be used to stimulate brain growth. Please call 717-786-5619 to make a reservation for this program.
Find out more about these workshops at the Plant the Seed of Learning website, www.planttheseedoflearning.org. These workshops are offered by the Solanco School District Title 1 Office, in cooperation with the Quarryville Library.

PA CareerLink® Lancaster County will be at the Quarryville Library the 4th Tuesday of each month from 1pm-3:30pm, for free Career Counseling appointments.

Mini-Golf is Back for 9th Year

2018 Go-Fore Golf advertising posterIt’s Mini-Golf Time again at the Quarryville Library!

We here at the Quarryville Library are excited to announce our Ninth Annual “Go-Fore Golf at the Quarryville Library.” The event to be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, will consist of a sixteen-hole miniature golf course INSIDE the library that weaves in and around our bookshelves. The community will have a chance to play this unique round of miniature golf, enjoy lunch or dinner at our “17th Hole Café,” and participate in other family-friendly activities, all while helping to raise money for the library. There will also be a Friends of the Library Book Sale taking place from 10 am – 3 pm, to supply your winter reading needs.

For Regular Golf, from 10 am– 3 pm, admission is $5.00 for adults / $3.00 for children 12 and under.
For Glow Golf, from 5 pm – 8 pm, admission is $6.00 for adults / $4.00 for children 12 and under.

Players may be of all ages but groups are limited to five players. Prizes will be awarded for best pre-school, child, teen, adult, and senior score of the day. Tee times are strongly suggested, but not required, and can be made by calling the library at 717-786-1336 or by visiting our website at www.quarryvillelibrary.org.

11 am – 2 pm: Balloon Animal Art & Face-Painting with the Balunguy and Friends
3 pm – 5 pm: Course closed for intermission

Please note on Go-Fore Golf Saturday, the library will be closed for regular business. There are no passport appointments, and no passport walk-ins are permitted. Computers are not available for use. However, items due that day can be returned in the book drop.
