Thursday, November 1

6 pm: Family Movie Night – New Time!
Join us for a FREE movie and popcorn in a family friendly atmosphere! All ages welcome – Movies Rated G or PG. This month, our favorite hotel-owning vampire and his family are taking a summer vacation! Please contact the library at 717-786-1336 for the specific title. Popcorn provided by the library!

Friday, November 2

10:30 – 11 am: Wee Readers
Join us for our Family Story Times, which include a mix of stories, crafts, songs and fun! You never know what we’ll be doing next! For children and their caregivers.
(Ages 1-5 years with a caregiver.)

5:30 – 7:30 pm: Teen Anime Club
Do you love anime? Check out this club! Watch anime, have some snacks, and socialize. Content will be PG/PG13. First and third Friday of the month.
(For ages 13 – 19.)

Saturday, November 3

10:30 am – 1 pm: STEM Saturday – Building Brigade
Participants will try to build the tallest, the most stable, or the weirdest structure using a variety of engineering toys. Limited to 30 participants. Registration required, although walk-ins will be accepted as room allows on the day of the program.
(Best for ages 8 – 11.)

1 pm – 4:30 pm: Adult Dungeons & Dragons Club
A club for adults devoted to playing the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game! One meeting per month, first Saturday.
(For ages 18 and up.)

Tuesday, November 6

10 – 11:30 am: Preschool Meet-Up
A casual, weekly meet-up for parents with preschool-age children! Bring the little ones, gather in our Early Literacy Lab, and play the morning away. A great way to meet other local parents and caregivers and for your child to make new friends.
(Best for children ages 3 – 5 years old and their parents/caregivers. Older and younger siblings welcome!)

1:30 – 2:30 pm: Robot Adventures Story Time
Join little robot Cubetto on a series of adventures around the globe: dive into the deep oceans, journey through Egypt, and even go to outer space in this special series of STEM story times!
(Best for ages 4 – 7, with a caregiver.)

Wednesday, November 7

10 – 11 am: 123…Play with Me!
123… Play With Me! is a Parent/Child Workshop for parents and children ages birth to three.
Each week offers opportunities for children to play with developmentally appropriate toys in a play group setting and for parents to meet and question community experts in the areas of child development, speech and language, nutrition, play, movement, and music.
(Best for children ages 1 – 3 years old and their parents/caregivers. Older siblings welcome!)

4:30 – 5:15 pm: Study Buddies
Would your child like to improve reading skills or spelling? Then stop by the library for Study Buddies, where students can practice spelling and reading skills with help from volunteers. Be sure to bring the spelling or vocabulary list that needs to be learned, or a book to read for practice.
To keep group sizes manageable for our volunteers, this program is limited to 8 participants per week. Please register if you wish to guarantee a spot for your child on a specific date. Otherwise, walk-ins welcome as group size allows. (For children ages 5 – 10 in need of extra guided help in spelling or reading.)

6 – 7 pm: Learn Spanish with Solanco High School Students
Workshop about the Spanish language, taught by Solanco High School Students and held at the Quarryville Library! Workshop scheduled for the following dates: November: Wed. 11/7 & Thurs. 11/15. Limited to 20 participants, so registration is preferred. Walk-ins welcome as class size allows. Thursday, November 8

10 – 10:30 am: Parachute Play
Thirty minutes of fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes will be just what your child needs to get the wiggles out! Bubbles, balls, and other props will ensure that the fun never stops!
(Ages 1 – 3 years with a caregiver)

10:45 – 11:15 am: Parachute Games
It’s parachute fun for the preschool crowd! Songs, rhymes, and games to keep your preschooler moving, laughing, and having fun! 30 minutes.
(Ages 3-6 years with a caregiver)

Friday, November 9

5 – 5:30 pm: Teen Leadership Group Meeting
A volunteer initiative for teens! Do you want to make a difference at your library? Consider joining the Teen Leadership Group at the Quarryville Library! This is a group of teens who volunteer to plan, promote, and run programs and activities for kids and teens in the library. They also help us choose what items to buy for the library. Come to the meeting and find out what it’s all about!
(For ages 13 – 18.)

The Library is hosting the STEM Mobile, presented by the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania! They are presenting a program about Virtual Reality. From their website: “Our STEM Mobile is getting ready to hit the road and bring bright ideas to Girl Scouts and community partners across our 30 county footprint. The mobile STEM lab is packed with hands-on, innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) exploration from robotics to virtual reality!”
Limited to 30 participants. Registration required, although walk-ins will be accepted as room allows on the day of the program.
(Best for ages 8 – 11.)

11 am – 3:30 pm: Teen Board Games
Open board game time in the library! Bring your favorite board games to share with the group.
(Ages 12 +)

High School Equivalency Classes Available in the Southern End

The Solanco Family Life Network, in collaboration with the IU13 and United Way, are offering High School Equivalency (GED) classes here in the Southern End! It's not to late to sign up. Classes run now through December 19th, on Monday & Wednesdays from 6 - 8:30pm. Classes take place at the Southern End Community Association (SECA). Contact Cassi at IU13 to sign up at 717-947-1480 or cassi_redcay@iu13.org.The Solanco Family Life Network, in collaboration with the IU13 and United Way, are offering High School Equivalency (GED) classes here in the Southern End!

It’s not to late to sign up. Classes run September 24th through December 19th, on Monday & Wednesdays from 6 – 8:30pm.
