Tuesday, August 1

3:30 – 4:30 pm: Junior Master Gardener Club Meeting
If you and your child are interested in gardening, check out our new Junior Master Gardener Club! We plan to learn about gardening and cultivating various types of plants, including vegetables and flowers.
(Best for children ages 6 – 12 and a caregiver.)

2 – 5 pm: Tinker with Tech Week
We’re hosting a series of open tech sessions so children and teens can tinker with a selection of fun and challenging robot, building, and programming kits and toys.
(Best for ages 3+.)

Thursday, August 3

10 am: Parachute Play
Thirty minutes of fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes will be just what your child needs to get the wiggles out! Bubbles, balls, and other props will ensure that the fun never stops!
(Ages 1 – 3 years with a caregiver)

10:45 am: Parachute Games
It’s parachute fun for the preschool crowd! Songs, rhymes, and games to keep your preschooler moving, laughing, and having fun!
(Ages 3-6 years with a caregiver)

Friday, August 4

11 am: Animal Architecture, presented by Lancaster County Dept. of Parks
In nature we are surrounded by structures built by animals. Some include insect homes, burrows created by mammals and bird nests. These structures often incorporate specialized features to help the animals survive in its home. Join one of our Naturalists as we explore what the animals are building.
(All ages welcome, best for ages 4 – 10.)

5:30 – 7:30 pm: Teen Anime Club & Summer Cosplay Contest
The Quarryville Library Teen Anime Club presents a Summer Cosplay Contest! Dress as your favorite fictional character, and all cosplayers are entered to win a prize!
1st Place: $50 gift card
2nd Place: $25 gift card
3rd Place: Free Movie Rentals
Contest followed by Teen Anime Club

Monday, August 7

2 pm: Teen Book Club @ the Daily Grind
Meet up at the Daily Grind for some coffee and discussion! For this month’s meeting, we’re reading Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer.

10:30 am: Thinking Like an Engineer
Learn how to think like an engineer in this hands-on presentation by the Lancaster Science Factory.
(Best for ages 8 – 12.)

2 pm: Hank’s Health Quest – Germs!
Cheer on Hank as he becomes the champion of healthy choices. Set out on a quest with Hank to fight off germs. All show participants will receive tips and tools for making healthy choices at home along with an invitation to join Hank’s Hall of Health Heroes!
(Best for ages 3-8 years.)

10 am: Preschool Power!
Story time for preschoolers, featuring songs, stories, and a craft. Now on Thursdays!
(Ages 3.5-5 years)

6 pm: All-Ages Chess Club
A chess club for enthusiasts of all ages and abilities! Gather together to play, teach, and discuss strategy. Please bring your chess set. Second and fourth Thursday of the month.
(For all ages.)

Friday, August 11

10:30 – 11:10 am: Wee Readers
Join us for our Family Story Times, which include a mix of stories, crafts, songs and fun! You never know what we’ll be doing next! For children and their caregivers.
(Ages 1-5 years with a caregiver.)

12:45 – 2 pm: Junior Master Gardener Club Meeting

2 pm: Teen-Led Art Workshop
A 6-week art workshop led by artistic teens! Each meeting will last 90 minutes; learn sculpture and oil painting. Completed pieces will be featured in the Art Showcase in Sept.

5 pm: Teen Leadership Group Meeting
A volunteer initiative for teens! Do you want to make a difference at your library? Consider joining the Teen Leadership Group at the Quarryville Library! This is a group of teens who volunteer to plan, promote, and run teen programming in the library. Come to the meeting and find out what it’s all about!
(For ages 13 – 18.)

5: 30 – 7 pm: Teen Night
After-hours Teen Night at the Quarryville Library, featuring programs and events planned by the Teen Leadership Group.

Saturday, August 12

1 pm – 4:30 pm: Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club
Join the quest in our bi-monthly Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game! Meets the second and fourth Saturday of the month.
(For ages 12 and up.)

End of Summer Reading Program. Logs due by 3 pm on Saturday, August 12 in order to receive the prize packets.

6:30 pm: Lego ® Night
On the third Thursday of the month, we gather together to build creations out of Lego® Bricks. Each month we will choose a different theme to build about. Participants should NOT bring their own Legos®, only Library Legos® will be used, because creations will be displayed in the children’s area of the library all month long, for all to see! So join us for some creative building fun!
(All ages welcome)

Friday, August 18

10:30 am: Summer Kids’ Yoga
Teaches basic yoga positions using favorite children’s books. Please bring a towel, blanket, or yoga mat. (Best for children ages 4 to 12 and their caregivers.)

5:30 – 7:30 pm: Teen Anime Club
Do you love anime? Check out this new club! Watch anime, have some snacks, and socialize. Content will be PG/PG13. First and third Friday of the month.
(For ages 13 – 18.)

11 am – 2:30 pm: Open Board Game Time
Open board game time in the library! Bring your favorite board games to share with the group.
