Wednesday, August 1

10 – 11:30 am: Toddler Meet-Up
A casual meet-up for parents with toddlers! Bring the little ones, gather in our Early Literacy Lab, and play the morning away. A great way to meet other local parents and caregivers and for your toddler to make new friends.
(Best for children ages 1 – 3 years old and their parents/caregivers. Older siblings welcome!)

6 – 7 pm: Summer Lego® Club
Join our Lego® Design Team & build creations to be displayed in the library! Every week this summer, we’ll build creations out of the Library’s collection of Lego® Bricks. Join us for some creative building fun! We’ll give away 2 mini-figures each week, and you can enter to win one of our grand prizes: a Lego set to be given away, one at week 5 and another at week 11 of the club. Sponsored by Coatesville Savings Bank.
(All ages welcome, best for ages 5 +)

Thursday, August 2

10 – 11 am: Summer Reading Club
Make finishing that reading log a breeze with our Summer Reading Club! Each club meeting will feature a new book to read together and enjoy. All attendees will receive a copy of that week’s book to keep forever, courtesy of the Solanco Family Life Network! Registration required, limited to 10 participants. Registration includes all club meetings: Thursday mornings for an hour from June 28 – August 16. This activity is currently full.
(For ages 7 through 9, limited to 10 participants.)

4:15 – 5:30 pm: Junior Master Gardener Club Meeting
If you and your child are interested in gardening, check out our new Junior Master Gardener Club! We plan to learn about gardening and cultivating various types of plants, including vegetables and flowers.
(Best for children ages 6 – 12 and a caregiver.)

6:30 pm: Family Movie Night
Join us for a FREE movie and popcorn in a family friendly atmosphere! All ages welcome – Movies Rated G or PG. This month, we’re watching a film about garden gnomes solving a mystery, based on the beloved detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Please contact the library at 717-786-1336 for the specific title. Popcorn provided by the library!

Friday, August 3

2 – 3 pm: Teen-Led Acting Workshop
Budding actors, take note! The Teen Leadership Group is holding a 7 week Acting Workshop. Learn all the basics of the profession, with a capstone Showcase on August 24th! Runs on Friday afternoons July 6 – August 17, with the final showcase on August 17. Registration includes all workshop meetings and the showcase, so please plan to attend all dates.
(Best for ages 9 – 13.)

4 – 5 pm: Award Winning Reads
Sign up to read one, two, or all eight of our Newbury Medal-winning book club picks! All attendees will receive a copy of their selected books to read before the meetings and keep forever, courtesy of the Solanco Family Life Network! Books can be picked up at the Quarryville Library Service Desk. Today’s book: The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. 1 pm – 4:30 pm: Adult Dungeons & Dragons Club
A club for adults devoted to playing the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game! One meeting per month, first Saturday.
(For ages 18 and up.)

Thirty minutes of fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes will be just what your child needs to get the wiggles out! Bubbles, balls, and other props will ensure that the fun never stops!
(Ages 1 – 3 years with a caregiver)

10:45 – 11:15 am: Parachute Games
It’s parachute fun for the preschool crowd! Songs, rhymes, and games to keep your preschooler moving, laughing, and having fun! 30 minutes.
(Ages 3-6 years with a caregiver)

5 – 8 pm: Page to Screen Book Club
A book club with a silver screen twist! For each month this summer, we will read a book and then watch the movie. Discover some great books, some great movies, and then decide which you prefer! For this meeting, we’ll be reading Coraline by Neil Gaiman and watching the film inspired by the book. Each participant will receive a free copy of the book to read before the meeting, and fun movie snacks at the meeting! Limited to 15 participants. Join us for our Family Story Times, which include a mix of stories, crafts, songs and fun! You never know what we’ll be doing next! For children and their caregivers.

A volunteer initiative for teens! Do you want to make a difference at your library? Consider joining the Teen Leadership Group at the Quarryville Library! This is a group of teens who volunteer to plan, promote, and run programs and activities for kids and teens in the library. They also help us choose what items to buy for the library. Come to the meeting and find out what it’s all about!
(For ages 13 – 18.)

Please return your Summer Reading Logs and/or Bingo Cards on or before Saturday, August 11, in order to receive your prizes or enter one of our special summer raffles. Please note that some of our special summer activities continue past this date.
