C. X. Carlson Cultural Room, Story Corner / Early Literacy Lab
Meet & greet two local authors! Dannel Wissler will offer signed copies of her book Saving Mr. Toad for sale. Rev. Lester L. Swope, author of Me & Haiti: From Plowing Fields to Planting Churches, will join Dannel to share the mission that inspired his book.
A licensed professional counselor in Lancaster, Dannel Wissler owns Willow Oaks Counseling, 1018 N Christian Street. Outside her practice, Wissler is a member of the Lancaster County Critical Incident Stress Management team and a member of the Board of Directors for New Hope Counseling Center. She is also a member of the National Association for Addiction Professionals and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
Her professional pursuits inspired Wissler to embark on a writing project in late 2020. On September 30, 2021, Wissler published her book—a children’s book entitled Saving Mr. Toad—with Austin Macauley Publishers, Ltd.
Wissler was interviewed in February on Good Day PA’s Author Spotlight.
According to Wissler, “This is a story with important messages about listening to others, communicating well, and the positive impact that one family can have in a community.” She advises parents to read along and allow the story to inspire conversations in their families about ways each one can listen better, find places in your town that could use some help, and communicate more effectively.
Saving Mr. Toad is available for purchase directly from the author at the Book Launch, at Nook Books, 50 N. Queen Street, Lancaster, EM Herr Ace Hardware (14 Herrville Rd, Willow Street), and online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google Books, and other online booksellers.
