10 – 11:30 am: Preschool Meet-Up 
A casual, weekly meet-up for parents with preschool-age children! Bring the little ones, gather in our Early Literacy Lab, and play the morning away. A great way to meet other local parents and caregivers and for your child to make new friends.
(Best for children ages 3 – 5 years old and their parents/caregivers. Older and younger siblings welcome!)

Wednesday, October 3

10 – 11:30 am: Toddler Meet-Up – suspended between 10/10 & 11/14 for Parent/Child seminar at same time.

4:30 – 5:15 pm: Study Buddies
Would your child like to improve reading skills or spelling? Then stop by the library for Study Buddies, where students can practice spelling and reading skills with help from volunteers. Be sure to bring the spelling or vocabulary list that needs to be learned, or a book to read for practice.
To keep group sizes manageable for our volunteers, this program is limited to 8 participants per week. Please register if you wish to guarantee a spot for your child on a specific date. Otherwise, walk-ins welcome as group size allows. Thursday, October 4

6 pm: Family Movie Night – New Time!
Join us for a FREE movie and popcorn in a family friendly atmosphere! All ages welcome – Movies Rated G or PG. This month, we’re watching a film about two brothers undertaking a treasure hunt. Please contact the library at 717-786-1336 for the specific title. Popcorn provided by the library!

Friday, October 5

10:30 – 11 am: Wee Readers
Join us for our Family Story Times, which include a mix of stories, crafts, songs and fun! You never know what we’ll be doing next! For children and their caregivers.
(Ages 1-5 years with a caregiver.)

5:30 – 7:30 pm: Teen Anime Club
Do you love anime? Check out this club! Watch anime, have some snacks, and socialize. Content will be PG/PG13. First and third Friday of the month.
(For ages 13 – 19.)

Saturday, October 6

1 pm – 4:30 pm: Adult Dungeons & Dragons Club
A club for adults devoted to playing the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game! One meeting per month, first Saturday.
(For ages 18 and up.)

123… Play With Me! is a Parent/Child Workshop for parents and children ages birth to three.
Each week offers opportunities for children to play with developmentally appropriate toys in a play group setting and for parents to meet and question community experts in the areas of child development, speech and language, nutrition, play, movement, and music.
(Best for children ages 1 – 3 years old and their parents/caregivers. Older siblings welcome!)

3 – 5 pm: Teen Open House for Teen Read Week
Interested in volunteering at the library and want to know what it’s all about? Interested in starting or joining a Teen Club at the library? Like reading and want to help us buy stuff?
Come visit us to find out more about the library and what it can do for you! And we’ll have some special giveaways set aside, so visit to win!
(For ages 13—19.)

Thirty minutes of fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes will be just what your child needs to get the wiggles out! Bubbles, balls, and other props will ensure that the fun never stops!
(Ages 1 – 3 years with a caregiver)

10:45 – 11:15 am: Parachute Games
It’s parachute fun for the preschool crowd! Songs, rhymes, and games to keep your preschooler moving, laughing, and having fun! 30 minutes.

5 – 5:30 pm: Teen Leadership Group Meeting
A volunteer initiative for teens! Do you want to make a difference at your library? Consider joining the Teen Leadership Group at the Quarryville Library! This is a group of teens who volunteer to plan, promote, and run programs and activities for kids and teens in the library. They also help us choose what items to buy for the library. Come to the meeting and find out what it’s all about!
(For ages 13 – 18.)

Saturday, October 13

10:30 am – 1 pm: STEM Saturday – Robot Games
Join us for a series of robot games designed to help kids develop problem-solving skills, learn basic coding and math techniques, and have fun! We’ll be using a selection of robot toys, including beebots & codepillars.
Limited to 30 participants. Registration required, although walk-ins will be accepted as room allows on the day of the program.
(Best for ages 8 – 11.)

1 pm – 4:30 pm: Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club
Join the quest in our bi-monthly Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game!

5 – 6 pm: Writing Development: a Grow the Seed of Learning Workshop
Grow the Seed of Learning has expanded the impact of the Plant the Seed of Learning program to children, ages 2 – 4. The early childhood education initiatives of Plant the Seed of Learning and Grow the Seed of Learning support an educational and developmental foundation in the youngest of learners. The classes listed below will offer helpful tips on early childhood education in a playful environment. Local medical and school district professionals will present the classes. ALL CLASSES ARE FREE!
Future classes: March 6, 2019: Nursery Rhymes & Puppets & May 1, 2019: Fun with Math

All-Day Activities:

10 am – 3 pm – Blacksmith Demonstration by David Kauffman of Bloodstone Forge (All Ages)
About blacksmiths and blacksmithing: “The blacksmith was an important part of building of the world around us. Come out and see how the blacksmith has touched the lives of every human being for the last 4000 years.”

10 am – 3 pm – Autumn Crafts! (All Ages)
We have a spooky, classic work of art that we need your help to recreate! We will also have autumn coloring activities, and more.

Special Activities:

10:30 – 11:30 am – Spooky Bingo (Best for children ages 8 – 12, all ages welcome!)
We have pumpkin Bingo cards and candy markers; there will be lots of treats to go around! Limited to 30 participants per round.

12 – 2 pm – Keep it Weird Trivia Scavenger Hunt (Best for ages 10 – 15)
Stop in and see if you can figure out the answers to some of our weird, creepy, or strange facts! Complete the scavenger hunt using our supply of trivia and fact books and enter to win!
Correct entries will be entered in a raffle to win a free item from our prize chest. One scavenger hunt per person, please.

2 – 3 pm – Teen Costume Contest (ages 13 – 18)
If you’re a teen who loves cosplay, costuming, or dressing up, come out to our Teen Costume Contest (sponsored by the Teen Leadership Group), and enter to win a prize!
