Kick-Off Event for Summer Reading 2018, Featuring Special Book Clubs
The Quarryville Library is once again taking part in the county-wide Summer Reading Program. The 2018 program begins on Saturday, June 2, and runs through Saturday, August 11.
This year, reading logs are available for the following levels:
- Read-Aloud, for ages 0-4 years
- Junior, for ages 5-9 years
- Tween, for ages 10-12 years
- Teen, for ages 13-19 years
The logs will be available starting June 2nd and must be returned by August 11th to receive the prize packs.
There will be weekly Lost in the Library Scavenger Hunts for the duration of the program, with a prize drawn each week from that week’s finishers. This year, each week’s winner will receive a $10 gift card to local eatery Son’s Ice Cream & Italian Ice.
The Quarryville Library will also be hosting a series of special programs, just available during the summer months. Please check our events calendar for our full roster for this summer. You can create an account on our website to sign up for programs at your convenience.
Special this summer for Tween and Teen Readers: It’s a Book Bingo summer! We’ve created special Bingo cards for the tween and teen reading levels. Read five books in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line and enter to win the $50 grand prize! And of course, all time spent reading also counts for the Lancaster County Summer Reading Log. To enter the drawing, Bingo Cards must be returned by August 11.
Join us for our official Summer Reading Kick-Off on Saturday, June 2. Drop in between 1 and 3 pm to pick up your summer reading logs, sign up for special summer reading activities and events, and help us color our GIANT coloring page! Also, back by popular demand, you can Adopt a Friend to practice your reading skills with and keep forever! (While supplies last; 50 friends available.) Come early to see the Barnstormers’ CYLO, who is visiting from 1 – 1:30 pm!
Be sure to check out the sign-ups for our summer book clubs:
