Summer Reading is almost over!

Stop by the library by August 3 to pick up your “Bookopoly” game, and complete at least 6 unique spaces by August 10 to finish the program. For every additional 3 spaces completed, you get an extra chance to win a Longwood Gardens Family Pass!

6 American Activists

Fridays at 1:00 pm, August 2 – September 6. Dr. Robert Frick will offer a slide series discussing six American activists. Presentations will be filled with interesting facts and peppered with humor. For adults and older teens. Click here to register.

Workin’ on the Railroad

Thursday, August 8, 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Join staff from the Railroad Museum of PA who will offer a lecture and Q&A about four historic railroad jobs, along with photos and artifacts. For adults and interested older youth. Click here to register.

Mid Day Matinee

Thursday, August 15, 6:00 – 7:00 pm. We welcome back Quiz Bowl veteran Phil Gruber as he challenges how much we know! Participate individually or as a team of up to four people. We’ll also have prizes and refreshments! For adults and older teens. Click here to register.

Owls – Elusive Creatures of the Night

Thursday, August 22, 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Join Lancaster Parks and Recreation to learn about these fascinating birds – their life cycles, nesting habits, and special features. For all ages. Click here to register.

Crafts & Conversation

Wednesday, August 28, 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Spend relaxing time making crafts and socializing! Bring your own materials and see what others are making, learn from each other, and enjoy casual conversation. For adults and older teens. Click here to register.

Chess Club

Saturday, August 3, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Come join our chess club! All levels are welcome; we have a coach available to help you learn. For adults and older teens (16+). Click here to register.

Adult Writing Group

Are you interested in joining an adult writing group? We want to hear from you! Click here to complete our quick survey. We plan to do a trial run of the group during September and October and then re-evaluate the structure and meeting time to see what works best for the group.

Join the Friends!

The Friends of the Library are looking for help as they support the library by holding book sales and an annual holiday cookie and gift sale, operating the bookstore, running food services during Go-Fore Golf, and more. Any time you can offer is greatly appreciated! Click here for more information.

Looking for a way to help the community? Solanco Neighborhood Ministries is currently in need of the following items:

Tomato/chicken noodle soup (10 oz. can)
Mayonnaise
Saltines
Cereal
Pudding cups
Applesauce cups
Fruit cups
Diapers (sizes: 4, 5, 6, and pull-ups)
Baby wipes

Donations may be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 9 am – 4 pm and Friday from 9 am – 12 pm. Non-perishable donations may also be dropped off at the library.

The Ministry is also collecting school supplies for their annual back-to-school giveaway. These items can be donated until Friday, August 9th. Click here for a complete list of the supplies that are needed.
