    Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020
    Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

We’re starting a new writing club for elementary kids in grades K through 5 as a collaboration with the Young Writers’ Program through NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).  While much of the program involves writing on your own, you will have access to the national program database to communicate with your instructor and your age group.

Each week in June we’ll have warm up assignments and the option to meet with your group to discuss your project and the assignment.

On July 1, you’ll accept the challenge to write your very own novel!  Yes you can do it!

In August we’ll all celebrate our success as a community of writers.  We can share our projects to learn how to give and get gentle feedback, and maybe we’ll take the next step and publish it!

Registrants will receive a classroom code to join their age level group (K-2) or (3-5).  Parents will be asked to review and sign NaNoWriMo permission forms for youth under age 13.

    Time: 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM

Today’s “Make Me” craft is for ages 3+, but those under age 8 should have adult help!

    What you’ll need for today:

    • corrugated cardboard boxes (various sizes with one side measuring from about 9″  to 30″ – rectangle or square )
    • rubber bands – thicker is better – large size
    • more rubber bands – small and thick like those you find wrapping produce in supermarket (wash them first!)
    • balloons (don’t blow them up) – lots of them!
    • scissors
    • various jars and cans of various sizes
    • unsharpened pencils with erasers
    • small hard objects:  dried beans, coins, beads, small stones

    We’ll see you online!

We are still offering four age groups, and all youth from ages birth-19 are eligible to participate!  There will still be prizes, too.  And our Summer Fitness Quest will be returning virtually as well!

The Summer Reading program is going on all summer…start as early as June 20, finish no later than August 15.  Can you ‘imagine your story’?

In addition to all of the county-wide sponsors, Quarryville thanks our special local sponsors, Maplehofe Dairy Farm, Quarryville Lions Club and UPS Store #2450.

    Tuesday, June 30th, 2020

    Tuesday, July 21st, 2020
    Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

We’re starting a new writing club for tween and teen kids in grades 6 through 12 as a collaboration with the Young Writers’ Program through NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).

Registrants will receive a classroom code to join their age level group (6-8) or (9-12).  Parents will be asked to review and sign NaNoWriMo permission forms for youth under age 13.

    Friday – Minigames (recommended for 13 +)

Parents and children will be asked to indicate they have read and will adhere to the behavior agreement for each of these events to participate.  Disregard of the game expectations will result in a warning, then blocking from future participation.  Parents will be advised of each step in the process.

Upon checking the agreement and registering, your child will be provided with access codes for an individual session.  The server has a capacity of 10 players per session, so you will need to register each time to ensure you have a spot.

Questions about the program can be directed to Sharon Roche at sroche@quarryvillelibrary.org

  • Young Writers Program meeting – Teen

    Tuesday, August 25th, 2020
    Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

We’re starting a new writing club for tween and teen kids in grades 6 through 12 as a collaboration with the Young Writers’ Program through NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).

Registrants will receive a classroom code to join their age level group (6-8) or (9-12).  Parents will be asked to review and sign NaNoWriMo permission forms for youth under age 13.

  • Young Writers Program meeting – Elementary
