Summer Reading 2024

Adventure Begins at your library summer reading 2024

The Summer Reading program begins on June 1, 2024. We will offer the program in two modalities, through the Beanstack app and using paper forms. Along with the county-wide prizes/drawings, the Quarryville Library will once again provide a new book to each finisher this year in addition to other prizes and drawings! This year’s Summer Reading program runs through August 10, 2024.

To register your child on Beanstack:

If you’ve participated this way before, you’re all set! You will see this year’s challenges appear for your children on June 1, simply accept the challenges and come in to claim your Barnstormers voucher right away (awarded upon the start of the program). Track your child’s progress in the app and you’ll be prompted to come in and redeem the prizes upon completion.

If you’re new to Beanstack, create an account here. Where it says “find a library,” choose ‘Lancaster Libraries’ to be directed to our county’s site and select Quarryville Library when creating your account. Your email contact will allow us to notify you how and when to redeem your child’s prizes! Parents/caregivers are the account creators, and each child in the program is a reader. If you want a bit of extra help, we’ve got handy bookmarks at the Library to guide you, or we can offer some personal assistance as needed. Remember, the challenges go live on June 1, even if you open a Beanstack account today.

This year the Beanstack platform will include the popular 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program! If your young child is participating in both programs you can use the app to track them simultaneously!

To register your child using paper forms:

Come to the Service Desk during our open hours and request a form for your child. Your Barnstormers voucher will be attached to the form when you receive it.

Age groups:

A child who has a birthday within the start and end dates (June 1-August 10) may choose either age group to participate.

Read-aloud – Birth through age 4

Junior – Age 5 through 9

Tween – Age 10 through 12

Teen – Age 13 through 19

Not sure what to read?  Ask a librarian for reading suggestions!

We want to thank our generous local sponsors (Quarryville Lions Club, Maplehofe Dairy, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm, BJ’s Brewhouse) in addition to the county-wide sponsors, for supporting youth in the Southern End of Lancaster County.
