Did you know Quarryville Library is a certified Family Place library? This five-week program is guided by the principles of this nationally-recognized certification. Children and caregivers will arrive to engage in a variety of play centers that help with early development in a fun way! Each week we welcome a different early childhood expert that can help answer your questions (if you wish) about the topics. Registration is required for the five week session.
Our wonderful partners from Solanco Early Learning are returning again to collaborate with us to offer this five week Play and Learn program. Enjoy the play centers we have set out, along with a story and craft – just enough structure to get your child some practice with group learning but with caregivers at their side for support! We will also have early intervention experts on the side each week to provide information in case you have questions about your child’s development. Please register!
March will allow us a bit more time to enjoy our winter Storywalk®, The Belonging Tree by Maryann Cocca-Leffler. This is a thoughtful picture book about respect, inclusion, and acceptance in a woodland community of animals. We will award several copies of squirrel-themed books to families who submit a brochure letting us know you walked the path.
There will be TWO StoryWalk® exhibits in March! The second one is our annual Longwood Gardens Community Read event for young children. The Secret Garden is a beautifully illustrated, condensed picture-book version of the classic children’s novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. We will read the book, enjoy related stories, crafts and dancing, and if weather allows, stroll the StoryWalk® as a group.
A Longwood Gardens family pass and a copy of the book will be raffled off to all registered families. Afterward, the exhibit will remain in place for several weeks and additional passes may be won by families who visit the StoryWalk® on their own!
