It is with great pride that Quarryville Library Center announces its inaugural Honors Reception and invites you to join us for a special afternoon of celebration. As part of the library’s 50th Anniversary, we are honored to recognize Chris and Deb Waite for their years of dedicated service, volunteerism, and commitment to both the library and the greater community.
About Chris & Deb
For Deb Waite, a library has always represented opportunity. After moving to a new home as a teenager, she received her first library card at the Oxford Library—a moment she credits with opening the world to her and inspiring a lifelong love of reading, learning, and travel. That passion has remained with her throughout a remarkable life of service.
Deb served 24 years in the United States Navy, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees while stationed throughout the United States, Italy, England, and Japan. During her military career she met Chris while both were stationed at a NATO Air Base in Sicily.
Chris, a Colorado native, also served at the NATO Air Base in Sicily after joining the United States Navy in 1976. Following his military service, he built careers in education, visual merchandising, home improvement, and healthcare while pursuing his own love of music, woodworking, and craftsmanship. Together, Chris and Deb have traveled to approximately 40 countries and all 50 states, sharing a love of adventure, learning, and each other for more than four decades.
Since moving to Lancaster County in 2005, Chris and Deb have become dedicated volunteers at Quarryville Library Center, generously sharing their time, talents, and enthusiasm. Whether volunteering at library events, supporting special projects, or simply encouraging others to discover the joy of reading, they have helped strengthen the library’s connection to the community.
Tribute Gifts
A key part of the Quarryville Library Honors program is the establishment of the Chris & Deb Waite Honors Fund. Gifts made in their honor will help ensure Quarryville Library Center can continue providing outstanding collections, programs, and services for generations to come.

The Honors Reception is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested. When you RSVP, you will also have the opportunity to make an optional gift to the Chris & Deb Waite Honors Fund in their honor.
